cat + bird.

Cat-and-Bird-by-Paul-Klee.jpg

Gosh darn it, MOMA, if this isn’t the most glorious description of a cat I’ve ever heard.

Paul Klee’s Cat and Bird use the elements of art for “their own sake,” meaning  Klee didn’t really care about the image as much as its process. Here in particular, you can see his emphasis on color, line, and shape and how they create composite shape of a bird within the cat’s mind.

Also, like, how fabulous is Klee’s desire to make “secret visions visible”?! Seriously?! I HEAR THAT…especially when it comes to the overflowing cart I have on both Boden and J.Crew right now.

Hey, caveman! Get outta my business until it’s time for cocktail hour.

(In all seriousness, this is totally me right now. I’d hate to say my party days are o-v-e-r, but goodness, two days staying up past midnight has me like zzz.)

Oh, don’t worry: Just another jerk on a Wednesday letting their ideas reign more important than my own.

I’m all about this dog though.

death of the virgin.jpg

All the feels.

I’m kidding. Let’s get to the scholarship, shall we?

Caravaggio’s Death of the Virgin was a private commission for a public space (MY FAVORITE), because so many of them were rejected for reasons like androgynous angels or bare feet in their compositions.

Caravaggio was said to have used a cadaver as the model for the Virgin Mary. Yikes.

“I create miniature drawings…”

“I draw on trash and leave it for people…”

“I recreated a van Gogh painting out of tape…”

OMG, BORED PANDA. ENOUGH.

I actually caught myself saying, WELL LA DE DAH at a coffeeshop. OUT LOUD. What do these authors want? A medal? High fives from passersby?

GET REAL. / hire me.

reluctant bride.

Toulmouche_Bride.jpg

Auguste Toulmouche’s Reluctant Bride speaks to me in a myriad of ways.

The first? This chick’s gaze is everything I feel about marriage. Don’t get me wrong: I’ll say yes to being fawned over by girls in big dresses, but that’s about it.

Second, this braid.

Last, I’m hoping the bride’s actually all unimpressed with the girl on the right. Way to try and steal the spotlight, Flower Crown! But, uh, we know who we’re here for…
